For me…2024…was a year I want to forget. Horrible in every way except for the football.
Soccer is the constant force in life. No matter what state of mind you’re in…Soccer will be there ready to cheer you up, or disappoint you, or…a million other emotional things.
2024, I listened to other soccer podcasts in their various states of maturity and remembered the year I did what they were doing right now. Oh! I did a bit like this in 2010! I did this exact bit in 2006! That outro music!- I did that for a few weeks in 2011. Flattering. But flying under the radar for 19 years was part of the original plan.
In 2024, on one of the episodes, I spoke about another podcaster who was delighting in the fact that he was taking his podcasting equipment on holiday with his wife in order to record a podcast. It’s a funny ol’ game! On my show I said something like…Been there…Done that…and I can tell you…it’s not worth it! My advice to the millions of soccer podcasters is… don’t do that…Don’t sacrifice a minute of your time you spend with your family and friends! The Football will be there! It will always be there.
Around 2005- The Outro of my shows were me thanking my family in London, my mum, my brother etc etc and then the listeners (“without you I am just talking to thin air”) and then the Dalai Lama of Soccer stuff. Now, there are less family members to thank and I wish I spent more time with them. Lessons learned from 19 years of talking into a mic about football… again…The Football will be there! It will always be there.
And in 2025….The Show Continues. The World Wide Soccer Show will celebrate its TWENTIETH year. More of the same and perhaps some interviews that I have been meaning to get for a while now.
Like I said- 2024 was bad! But optimism prevails for 2025! I want to wish everyone a very Happy New Year for 2025 with nothing but good health and happiness and success in every endevour. I hope for Peace and and the for all to continue to be good to each other…and like I say at the end of each show “It ain’t trickin’ if you got it!” so I look forward to recording the podcast in 2025 and meeting new soccer people from around the world.
