Lost Audio- Alexi Lalas Episodes

When  The Show first started it didn’t sound anything like it does today. It was 2005 and I am glad a LOT of the audio has been erased or is missing from the World Wide Spiderweb.
In 2006, I had a cohost that did NOT like Alexi Lalas for whatever reason and thought it would “play well” to the audience for the show to make him out to be a villain.
I thought that was the dumbest idea ever! We were starting off in the podcast world…Hell! we were pioneering the art of podcasting and we needed all the friends that we could get.
We made a list of all the American footballers that we would like to talk to and went about trying to get a hold of them.
I really didn’t want to interview them but instead talk to them as they were a cohost. Questions and Answers are easy but going back and forth was going to take time to perfect.
It was strange because there were two camps of thought in the early days of podcasting. The first camp was the “Who are ya?” camp which had people look at me like I just killed their cat and the “How exciting!” camp which were on board with just about anything I wanted to talk about and loved the idea of getting to be “on radio”
When I went solo…the first person I called was Alexi Lalas.
The bloke was an icon and American soccer hero. There was no way I was sticking to my ex cohosts ideas of people we weren’t going to interview.
Turned out, Lalas was very happy to talk soccer with me and since then has been me go-to guest when things get interesting in American Soccer.
I have lost count of how many show he has been on but judging by the posters….there are at least FIVE lost episodes of myself and Lalas going back and forth and talking about the big stories of the day.
The 1998 World Cup episode is a huge loss. I wish I could find it somewhere but my audio of it was lost after a computer crash. It was an amazing episode where Lalas was asked about the whole Wynalda/Harkes drama. Shame really.
