Don’t let the Pundits hoodwink you…The CONCACAF Gold Cup is massively important. So US Soccer fielding a team that looks a lot different than the Nations Cup and Olympic Squad is a huge disservice. The players who played at Nations Cup should have been selected for Gold Cup. The Manager says that they want to win The Gold Cup but the selection doesn’t show it. US have handed to Gold Cup to another team. Kelvin Loyola wrote “The notion that the USMNT has 50-60 national team caliber players is still a mark of U.S. Soccer’s arrogance…”
Jamaica, Mexico, Canada, Qatar are fielding their A players and taking this tournament seriously. The highlight of this edition of Gold Cup is just how important MLS is to the region.
